History: I was born and raised in Columbus. I graduated from Bishop Watterson
High School. Attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio for undergraduate studies
and earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from The Ohio State University.
I moved to UA from German Village in 2000 with my wife, Terri, and we have two
sons. Business
History: My father, John Haemmerle, got involved in assisted living in
the late 1980's and I joined him in the mid 1990's. Together with other partners,
we developed the "Abbington" model and concept for assisted living.
We opened the Abbington of Arlington community in 1998. We also have similar communities
in Powell, Pickerington, Chillicothe and Coshocton, Ohio. The
most rewarding part of my job: Words of thanks from residents and families
- many wishing they had made the move sooner. It is rewarding to have a positive
affect on people's lives. My
recreational activities include: Playing with my kids; golf; travel; service
through the Kiwanis Club of Columbus; reading; and attending Columbus Blue Jacket,
OSU football and OSU basketball games. The
best kept secret about my business: The family atmosphere among residents
in our assisted living community is real and thriving. My
future plans for my business: At the community level, we will continually
strive to do our best to have happy residents and families. At the corporate level,
our goal is responsible growth. My
favorite UA places to frequent: Northam Park with my kids; Huffman's Market
and Tommy's Pizza. My
fondest memories of UA are: Walks in the neighborhoods and parks, friendly
neighbors, 4th of July parades and parties. My
favorite UA events/holidays are: The 4th of July and the Arts Festival. My
favorite Food is: anything Mexican or Italian. My
inspirations: My family and people who give first. In
closing, the UA Supersite is a great idea and a very useful way to celebrate and
share the wonderful attributes of our Upper Arlington Community. |
